Principles of Design Research

When looking at my picture of Paul Revere I noticed that the emphasis was on the buildings because their was a light that was shining on the buildings as if they wanted us to look at the buildings as the center because it was in the middle of the painting and the placement made it be the first thing I looked at. Also, the road made me think it was the movement of the painting and implied movement. I thought the proportions were in the buildings and how some were big and some were small and it brought balance and also had added symmetry I thought because it made it look like an actual town. Overall, I thought the painting showed lots of the principals of design.

Fabric Drawings

Today you drew some fabric hanging in the middle of the room.
You were asked to think about creating the feeling of the fabric's weight and behavior in your drawing.
You were asked to build the drawing from the general to the specific.

How did it go?
How did it feel to try to recreate the fabric you saw?
How did today's drawing feel different than last week's drawing of the sticks?

For me it went pretty well as long as I was relaxed and didnt worry about how it was going in the beginning and just tried to get the drape feel to the fabric. As techniques I used I tried to use shading and also draw pattern to make it look more 3 demential. This was different from last week cause this was gravity and draping related and a little more flow in the fabric and the sticks were lines and detail in the lines.

Feedback on Sculpture

When describing our Winter Home they said that it was very well executed and that you could tell it had a theme and what it was right from the begging. They said maybe for next time make it look a little more neat and not as scrambled and also that the snow and snowflakes were a good idea and really added to the sculpture and theme. Overall we got positive feedback.

Pile of Sticks

How did it go?
How did it feel to make the drawing?
How do you feel about the outcome?

When drawing the pile of sticks I just started by drawing a bunch of lines. When drawing it felt like I was just drawing random lines and I didn't know how to make it look like an actual pile of sticks. So then I tried to add detail by adding branches and detail to make it look like a stick. I thought the outcome was good and people can tell it is a pile of sticks.

Found Object Sculpture Reflection

                                                                   Winter Home

When making the sculpture we knew right from the beginning that we wanted to use the candy machine for the base of the house and wanted to use the stuffing of a toy baby for snow. We used lots of the little objects we found in order to separate the big window to make it look as if it was a house window with 4 sections. We also created a little door at the bottom and made a chimney with a glass bottle and other little objects we had found. When making this sculpture I found that when you use hot glue you can make snowflakes for the house to make it look based in the winter. I thought the outcome looks very nice and we used lots of materials.

                                                                    To Much Technology?

My concept of this work was to make it look like what are world used to be and what it has come to be with al the new inventions and technology. At first i was going to have it be a nice scenery o the right side of hotels and luxuries but then realized that it was not much different than the left side. I instead tried to make it earthy and lots of outside objects and then technology and things that might over power that other side. I think people that might look at it may get my idea of how inventions and buildings and new inventions might be to much for people to handle.

Pour Paintings

When making the pour paintings it felt good to just be careless and not have any control. It made you feel like if you messed up you were not being blamed for it and it was what you were supposed to be doing. I was surprised when i saw all of the color when they were dry how they formed into one color and then formed into one shape i could identify. when i came back to my photo i saw a bunny and sine i used rainbow colors i decided to make  rainbow bunny and i hope to make it into a spring scene with flowers and my bunny and blue skies.

Mid-term Reflection

I thought this term had gone very well in art class and I had made some really great work. My engagement was very good and I listened to all directions and participated in a positive way. I also thought I shared my ideas well with my fellow classmates and put in good ideas. My in class projects I thought were very well executed. I put a lot of work into my projects and thought the final product was creative and unique. In my sketchbook I tried to use many different styles and use many different materials in order for people to see I liked trying things new each week and I think my workbook came together very nicely. On tuesdays when we dropped everything and drew, at first I thought it would be frustrating because i'm not the best drawer. But, in the end I liked exploring the different techniques you wanted to use in order to get the biggest outcome of class. Overall, I feel I did very well and had fun.

The Changing Still Life

The three things that helped me accomplish my goal was to draw in a fast pace so then I would realize when something else is added or removed. The second thing is to draw to shade so i can identify the difference between each object and when erasing I would know which one to erase. The third thing is that I had to erase fast so then I could see what was being taken away and be able to add detail to the things that weren't erased. Overall today was quite frustrating but I learned a lot.
